For the fifth consecutive year, Tuff Country is the Official Suspension of the Ultimate Adventure.
As in nearly every past year, our Official Vehicle was outfitted with Tuff Country suspension components. This year, the Ultimate K-10 was stripped of its tired leafs and replenished with fresh packs from the boys in Utah. The staff's goal was to fit the 39 inch BFG Krawlers under the truck without drastically raising the center of gravity.
Up front the staff used a set of Tuff Country's 4 inch heavy duty leafs hung off heavy duty shackles and coupled with their SX8000 gas shocks.
Due to the time crunch, the rear springs were stock replacement units. This was due to the fact that the factory mounting points had been relocated. To achieve the required slight slight lift, these were mounted with a 2 inch shackle flip kit and high travel shackles, both from Off Road Design.
The Ultimate K-10 was then used and abused throughout the week and suffered no suspension related breakdowns.
Tuff Country sent along a wicked rig for this year's trip through the woods and rocks. Scott Sweeney's 1985 Toyota Extended Cab Pickup not only endured the entire week but did so unscathed. Scott and the staff certainly expected that virgin paint job to receive a few scars but none materialized. Scott's Toyota runs Tuff Country prototype springs up front and a four link out back.
