Las Vegas native Rob MacCachren has done it again. For the second year in a row MacCachren Motorsports has claimed the Borg-Warner Automotive Manufacturers Challenge Cup, and now has snagged the CORR championship in Pro-4 racing. The 35-year-old MacCachren has been winning off-road events since the age of 8 when he claimed his first win on a dirt bike.
MacCachren Motorsports is a nationwide operation. Its offices are in Las Vegas, the truck was built in California, and during the race season the company rents a shop in Green Bay, Wisconsin to use as a central staging point. A fleet of support vehicles and a 53-foot tractor-trailer are used to move this $400,000 Ford F-150 from race to race. The short-course racing takes it from Connecticut to California.
Nye Frank and Dave Clark in Banning, California, built this F-150 to be unlike any you will find at your local Ford dealership. Winning races is MacCachrens primary goal, but manufacturers use this F-150 as a rolling R&D test bed for a lot of the products we buy for our 4x4s. Your Auto Meter gauges, Borg Warner transfer case, and BFGoodrich tires have all been tested on this truck. Racing is tough on components, so durability tests are an off-road racers specialty.
Life for this truck isnt all business. As if back-to-back winning seasons werent enough, MacCachren also holds a long jump record of 185 feet with number 21 you see here!
